Dr. Mary's Monkey by Edward T. Haslam is a gripping true story that uncovers the link between a secret cancer-causing monkey virus and the assassination of JFK. It delves into the world of covert government operations and medical research.
In Dr. Mary's Monkey by Edward T. Haslam, we are taken on a journey to uncover a conspiracy that connects the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the spread of cancer-causing viruses, and the development of biological weapons. The book begins with the mysterious death of Dr. Mary Sherman, a prominent cancer researcher, in New Orleans in 1964. Her body is found burned and mutilated in her apartment, and the police quickly rule her death as a result of an accidental fire.
However, as Haslam delves deeper into Dr. Sherman's life and work, he uncovers a series of shocking revelations. She was involved in a secret government-funded project at the Ochsner Foundation, where she was researching the effects of radiation on cancer cells. Haslam learns that Dr. Sherman was not only involved in cancer research but also in a secret program to develop a biological weapon using a cancer-causing virus.
Haslam's investigation leads him to the figure of David Ferrie, a pilot and CIA operative who was connected to Dr. Sherman. Ferrie was also linked to Lee Harvey Oswald, the man accused of assassinating Kennedy. Haslam theorizes that Dr. Sherman, Ferrie, and Oswald were all part of a covert operation to develop a biological weapon to assassinate Fidel Castro. This weapon, according to Haslam, was to be a cancer-causing virus that could be delivered through a contaminated polio vaccine.
As Haslam continues to piece together the puzzle, he uncovers a link between the polio vaccine trials conducted in New Orleans in the late 1950s and early 1960s and the surge in soft-tissue cancers in the area. He suggests that the contaminated polio vaccine caused an outbreak of cancer, and the government, in a desperate attempt to cover up its mistake, launched a massive cancer research program to divert attention from the vaccine.
As if the story couldn't get any more bizarre, Haslam introduces another twist. He suggests that the same biological weapon research that led to the development of the cancer-causing virus also inadvertently led to the creation of the AIDS virus. According to Haslam, the AIDS virus was accidentally transferred from contaminated monkeys used in the cancer research program to humans, possibly through the polio vaccine.
Haslam's theory is based on the fact that the first recorded cases of AIDS in the United States were concentrated in the same areas where the contaminated polio vaccine was distributed. He also points to the fact that Dr. Sherman was using monkeys in her cancer research and that the same monkeys were later used in the development of the polio vaccine.
By the end of Dr. Mary's Monkey, Haslam has woven a complex web of conspiracy that connects the Kennedy assassination, the spread of cancer, the development of AIDS, and the creation of biological weapons. He suggests that the government, in its quest for power and control, has been willing to sacrifice the lives of its own citizens.
However, it's important to note that Dr. Mary's Monkey is a highly controversial book, and many of Haslam's claims remain unproven. The book has been criticized for its reliance on conjecture and its lack of solid evidence. Nevertheless, it offers a fascinating, if unsettling, exploration of the potential consequences of unchecked government power and deception.
