She is determined to stay clean and win back custody of her young son, Jacob. But Letty's plans are thwarted when she overhears a hitman being hired to kill a woman in a hotel room. Unable to go to the police without implicating herself, Letty decides to take matters into her own hands.

Letty's initial attempt to save the woman fails, and she finds herself embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the hitman, Javier. Despite their adversarial relationship, a strange bond forms between them. Letty begins to realize that Javier, like herself, is a product of his past, and she starts to question her own morality and the choices she has made.

    Sunset Key

In the second novella, Sunset Key, Letty is on the run with her son, Jacob, hiding from the law and the dangerous Javier. Letty's plan is to lay low and start a new life on the idyllic Sunset Key. However, her past catches up with her when she discovers that the owner of the house she is staying in is involved in a nefarious criminal operation.

Letty is forced to confront her old habits and skills as she devises a plan to extricate herself and Jacob from the dangerous situation. Despite their efforts, the situation takes a deadly turn, and Letty is forced to make a difficult choice to ensure her and Jacob's safety.
