Meanwhile, Ella, a young Garde with special abilities, is held captive by the Mogadorians. She discovers that Five, a Garde they once trusted, has been collaborating with the enemy. Five, who has always felt like an outsider among the Garde, has been manipulated by the Mogadorians and is now leading them to the remaining Loric hiding places.
Amidst the chaos, the Garde receives unexpected aid from Adam, a Mogadorian who switches sides after learning the truth about his race's destructive intentions. Adam helps them locate and rescue Ella, but their joy is short-lived when they realize that Five has stolen the Loric charm and fled.
