The Unlikely Marriage
In The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare, we are introduced to Emma Gladstone, a seamstress who finds herself in a rather unusual situation. Surprisingly, the Duke, Gabriel, agrees to pay her a handsome sum if she will marry him in a marriage of convenience. He needs an heir, and she needs financial security. They strike a deal, and Emma becomes the Duchess of Ashbury, a title she never sought. The marriage is to be in name only, with no emotional entanglements, and they are to lead separate lives. However, as we soon discover, things don't always go as planned.
Unexpected Feelings
As Emma settles into her new role as the Duchess, she finds herself drawn to the enigmatic Gabriel. Despite his gruff exterior and the physical and emotional scars he bears from the war, she sees a man in need of love and understanding. Gabriel, on the other hand, is taken aback by Emma's resilience and her refusal to be cowed by his intimidating presence.
