Discovering God’s Presence and Purpose in Your Tomorrow
Forward (2020) shows you how you can discover God in your life right now. Bible teacher David Jeremiah explains how Biblical wisdom can be used to attain focus and purpose, helping you on to great personal accomplishment and fulfillment.
King David had a great dream: to build a temple for the Lord at the top of Jerusalem’s Mount Moriah.
For centuries, Israel had worshiped at the tattered remnants of the tabernacle, the elaborate tent constructed in Moses’s time. But King David dreamt of a permanent place to worship God. He began to imagine a beautiful temple.
Without some kind of dream, we’re lost. The Bible tells us, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” When we have no idea about the kind of future we want, we flounder.
The key message here is: The Bible teaches us to hold on to our dreams.
Before you pursue your dream, try to envision it. Take a concrete example: without a blueprint for a house, you can’t build that house. And without a vision of that house, you can’t draw a blueprint. Your life is the house and you have to envision its shape.
Think of a great modern dreamer like Steve Jobs. He could envision what people needed and then build the technology to enrich their lives. He could see what wasn’t there, and what should be there.
King David was able to imagine the temple on Mount Moriah in just the same way. It wasn’t an abstract thing, this temple. It filled his mind, in all of its details. He imagined it as being more opulent than the beautiful palace he lived in, with its bulwarks and paneled walls.
David also discovered the difficulties of pursuing a dream. When he spoke with God about building the temple, God told him he wouldn’t be allowed to do it, as he’d been a man of war and shed blood. Instead, God told him it would be his son, Solomon, who’d build the temple.
David could have fallen into despair and defeat – it had been his dream, after all. But instead, he resolved to do all he could to help his son succeed. There’s a great lesson here. Sometimes, your dreams might not work out exactly as you pictured them. But that doesn’t mean you give up on them. Instead, you grasp the new possibilities that are offered and focus on them.
Pursuing a dream is hard – nobody said it would be easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is!
It's highly addictive to get core insights on personally relevant topics without repetition or triviality. Added to that the apps ability to suggest kindred interests opens up a foundation of knowledge.
Great app. Good selection of book summaries you can read or listen to while commuting. Instead of scrolling through your social media news feed, this is a much better way to spend your spare time in my opinion.
Life changing. The concept of being able to grasp a book's main point in such a short time truly opens multiple opportunities to grow every area of your life at a faster rate.
Great app. Addicting. Perfect for wait times, morning coffee, evening before bed. Extremely well written, thorough, easy to use.
