Embrace Detachment as a Path to Freedom
Let Go Now provides practical advice on releasing attachment to people, outcomes, and situations. Through daily meditations, Karen Casey guides us on a journey towards inner peace and emotional freedom.
This is an invitation to let go – to learn how to detach.
This isn’t something that comes naturally to most of us. “Detachment” means “separation,” which may seem counterintuitive.
But in fact, loving detachment can transform our lives and our relationships. It’s extremely valuable, especially for those of us who struggle with addiction or codependence.
This is something that self-help author Karen Casey has experienced first-hand. It hasn’t been easy. Learning how to detach is a long, ongoing journey. But letting go has played a huge part in Casey’s recovery process.
Casey grew up in an unhappy, dysfunctional family. After her first sip of alcohol at an early age, she ended up on a path to alcoholism and codependent relationships with men.
Even when she got her addiction under control, she still struggled in her romantic relationships. She felt imprisoned by other people’s behavior, and her need to be in control.
Gradually, thanks to many sessions at Al-Anon and AA, things began to get better for Casey. She abstained from romantic relationships for a while. And at last, the lessons she needed to learn began to sink in.
Casey gained a sense of clarity and well-being as she discovered that she was already “enough” – she didn’t need anyone else’s approval.
And eventually, through time and experience, she learned the value of detachment.
In the following sections, we’ll look at why detachment is necessary, and offer some practical suggestions. These will help you learn how to let go.
Also, if some parts seem a little repetitive … well, that’s intentional. Sometimes you need to hear a message a few times for it to really sink in.
These ideas are so important, so helpful, that they bear repeating. If you learn to let go, you can change your life for the better, finding a sense of true peace and freedom.
Let Go Now (2010) is a practical guide to detachment. The aim is to learn to let go and stop trying to control other people, so we can live our own lives more peacefully.
It's highly addictive to get core insights on personally relevant topics without repetition or triviality. Added to that the apps ability to suggest kindred interests opens up a foundation of knowledge.
Great app. Good selection of book summaries you can read or listen to while commuting. Instead of scrolling through your social media news feed, this is a much better way to spend your spare time in my opinion.
Life changing. The concept of being able to grasp a book's main point in such a short time truly opens multiple opportunities to grow every area of your life at a faster rate.
Great app. Addicting. Perfect for wait times, morning coffee, evening before bed. Extremely well written, thorough, easy to use.
