    A paradigm shift

If you’ve ever lived or are currently living paycheck to paycheck, you know how stressful it can be – wondering if you’ll be able to afford rent or groceries each month, maybe even having to decide between paying rent or buying groceries. And that’s not even considering when children or other dependents are in the picture.

Paycheck-to-paycheck living is an extremely uncomfortable place to be, and Kamel was in just such a place when he first graduated from college with close to $40,000 in debt and a job that barely covered his monthly expenses and student loan payments. He’d been living according to the traditional financial philosophies propagated by American society – that paying with credit cards was normal, as were student loans, giant mortgages, and being stressed about money.

But then, while employed at Dave Ramsey’s company, Kamel learned a new financial philosophy and undertook Ramsey’s financial program Baby Steps. And, as you might already know, within a decade, Kamel had become a debt-free millionaire.

So how did he do it? And how can you?

Well, the first step is reevaluating and discarding some of the traditional financial philosophy society has ingrained in you, which you may or may not be fully aware of. This paradigm shift can be difficult and at times outright enraging, but it’s a necessary part of transforming your financial life. Kamel acknowledges that everyone comes with a different backstory and a different set of life circumstances. But everyone is capable of transforming their finances if given access to the right knowledge and taught the techniques Kamel and countless others have followed to become debt-free millionaires.

In the next section, we’ll dive into some of the beliefs you might hold – aware of them or not – that are probably preventing you from achieving financial freedom. Because to get rid of unhelpful views, you first have to understand what they are and where they come from.
