The Beginning of the End

The crew finds disturbing artifacts and evidence of bizarre rituals carried out by the cult. Kyle himself starts having vivid nightmares and experiences inexplicable physical sensations.

Unearthing the Past

From England, the crew moves to a remote farmhouse in France where the cult used to reside. As they delve deeper into the cult's history, they uncover more unsettling facts. The cult members believed in a prophecy that the world would end on a specific date, and they had to prepare for it. Their preparation involved extreme asceticism, self-mutilation, and a belief in the power of collective suicide to achieve transcendence.

The crew also learns about the cult's obsession with recording everything, from their daily activities to their most intimate thoughts. They find a room filled with tapes and journals, all meticulously cataloged. It becomes apparent to Kyle that the cult was not just a religious group but an experiment in extreme human behavior, led by Sister Katherine, a charismatic but deeply disturbed individual.

The Descent into Darkness

As the crew travels to the final location of the cult, an abandoned mine in Arizona, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense. Kyle's nightmares intensify, and he starts experiencing hallucinations during the day. His crew members are also affected, with some showing signs of paranoia and irrational behavior. The line between reality and nightmare blurs, and Kyle begins to question his own sanity.

At the mine, they discover the site of the cult's mass suicide, a scene of unspeakable horror. The crew members are terrorized by what they see, and Kyle is convinced that the evil unleashed by the cult is now targeting them. He discovers that Sister Katherine had a vision of a malevolent entity she called "The Presence", which she believed would bring about the end of the world. It seems that this entity has survived the cult's destruction and is now haunting Kyle and his crew.

The Final Showdown

In the climactic ending of Last Days, Kyle confronts The Presence in a terrifying showdown. He realizes that the only way to defeat it is by confronting his own fears and weaknesses. The entity preys on human frailty, using their deepest fears and desires against them. Kyle manages to resist its influence and survive, but not without severe mental and physical scars.

The film is completed, but Kyle is left traumatized by his experiences. He is haunted by the knowledge that The Presence still exists, waiting for another opportunity to manifest. Last Days is a chilling exploration of the darkness that resides within us and the terrifying power of belief.
