Three years later, George and Hana are also sent to Terezin, another concentration camp, where they are forced to work under horrific conditions. Even so, Hanna manages to inspire others around her with her artistry, creating a Jewish children's magazine to raise their spirits. Unfortunately, Hana soon becomes another victim of Auschwitz, after being transferred there on an ominous transport tagged "Girls 14 years and up".

George, however, survives the war and moves to Canada. When he receives an unexpected request for information about Hana from a Japanese organization in 2000, he decides to share his sister's tragic, yet inspiring story. As a result, Hana’s memory lives on, even decades after her untimely death.

George's Quest

In the meantime, miles away in Japan, Fumiko Ishioka, curator of The Tokyo Holocaust Education Resource Center, receives Hana's suitcase, a poignant relic from Auschwitz. Intrigued by the name on the suitcase, Fumiko embarks on a mission to unfold its owner’s history. Her search leads her to George in Canada who provides her with Hana’s drawings, photographs, and poignant, yet heartbreaking details of the little girl whose life was cut short by a terrible fate.

Fumiko’s quest culminates in a visit to Nove Mesto, Hana's hometown, with a group of young Japanese students. There, they honor Hana's memory by celebrating her life; a spark of solace amidst the horror of the Holocaust. The journey they undertake highlights the impact of Hana's story on people across different cultures and generations.
