The Women Behind The Music Legend: A Deep Dive Into Andy Williams' Wife

In music history, few artists hold the same enduring appeal as the late Andy Williams. Beyond his illustrious career, however, many fans and critics are often intrigued by tales of his personal life, his marriages, and his family.

This article delves into the story of Andy Williams’ wife, their children, and the legacy they continue to uphold.

Claudine Longet: Mother of His Children and Convicted for Murder

The initial meeting between singer Andy Williams and French-born Claudine Longet occurred in Las Vegas when Longet’s car experienced a breakdown. Williams stepped in to offer his aid. At that time, Longet was making a name for herself as a dancer at the iconic Folies Bergère.

That meeting blossomed into a romantic relationship, leading the pair to tie the knot on December 15, 1961. In the ensuing eight years, their union was blessed with three children: Noelle, Christian, and Robert.

In 1970, the couple decided to part ways finalizing their divorce by 1975. Despite ending their marital relationship, their friendship bond remained unbroken.

A shocking incident occurred less than two years later: when Claudine was 34, she was accused of shooting and murdering her 30-year-old boyfriend Vladimir Sabich, the famous alpine ski racer, in their Aspen home.

Despite the accusations, she claimed the gun had accidentally discharged while Sabich was teaching her how to use it.

She went on trial in January 1977, and despite the public opinion disbelieving it was an accident, she was found guilty but with minor charges, leading to a $250 fine and a 30-day jail sentence. After that episode, she lives in total obscurity and out of the limelight.

Williams supported her publically during the trial, as reported by Time Magazine. Not only did he defend Longet’s character in the press, but he also accompanied her during court proceedings.

Andy Williams’ Second Chance: Debbie Haas

Andy Williams embarked on a new chapter of his life on May 3, 1991, when he married Debbie Haas, a relationship that began through a mutual friend. The couple chose to settle down together in Branson, Missouri.

Williams was an avid collector of modern art during his later years, a passion clearly reflected in his stunning homes. Each residence was a testament to his exceptional taste, showcasing his curated collection, so much so that they were awarded in Architectural Digest.

Williams continued to live a vibrant life full of music, love, and art until his death on  September 25, 2012, succumbing to a long battle with bladder cancer.

Andy Williams’ Net Worth

At the time of his death in September 2012, Andy Williams’ net worth was estimated to be around $45 million. This substantial fortune was accrued through his record-breaking music career, which spanned over six decades and showcased over 40 studio albums.
