In a climactic battle, the Red Bull, the creature King Haggard uses to keep the unicorns captive, is defeated. The unicorns, including Lady Amalthea, are freed, but at a great cost.

During the battle, Lír dies while attempting to protect Lady Amalthea. Heartbroken, Lady Amalthea reverts to her true form as the unicorn, realizing that she can never be fully human.
