Revan's Journey
In the book Revan by Drew Karpyshyn, we follow the story of the titular character, a former Jedi Knight who was once a hero of the Mandalorian Wars. However, he fell to the dark side and became the Sith Lord who led the Sith Empire's invasion of the Galactic Republic. But before his fall, Revan had a vision of a greater threat lurking in the unexplored regions of space, and he ventured into the Unknown Regions to confront it.
Revan's journey begins with him being held captive in stasis on the Sith Emperor's flagship. In a state of partial amnesia, he is forced to relive his past as a Sith Lord. Meanwhile, his former companion, the astromech droid T3-M4, escapes and begins a quest to find Revan's lost ship, the Ebon Hawk. T3-M4's quest brings him to the Jedi Exile, Meetra Surik, who is also known as the 'Jedi General' for her crucial role in the Mandalorian Wars.
Revan's Return
Meanwhile, Revan's wife, Bastila Shan, and his former mentor, Jedi Master Kreia, set out to rescue him. Joined by the Ebon Hawk's crew, they infiltrate the Sith Emperor's fortress in an attempt to free Revan. However, they are captured, and the Emperor reveals his plan to use Revan as a pawn to destroy the Republic. Revan, Bastila, and Shan are then subjected to the Emperor's mind control, which brings back Revan's full memories and dark powers.
Revan is sent back to the Republic as a sleeper agent, with the mission to weaken it from within. Bastila and Shan, however, manage to resist the Emperor's control and escape. They reunite with the Jedi Exile and T3-M4. Together, they hatch a plan to stop Revan's dark mission and face the greater threat Revan had foreseen in the Unknown Regions.
Confronting the True Enemy
The group heads to the Unknown Regions, where they discover that the true enemy is a Sith Empire that has been secretly rebuilding its forces and preparing to launch a massive invasion. The Emperor plans to use a superweapon called the Star Forge to destroy the Republic. Revan, now completely under the Emperor's control, is tasked with leading the Sith forces in the invasion.
The Jedi Exile and her allies infiltrate the Emperor's fortress and confront him. In a fierce battle, they manage to defeat the Emperor's physical form, but his spirit survives. Meanwhile, Revan, battling the Emperor's control, sacrifices himself to destroy the Star Forge, crippling the Sith Empire's war machine.
The Aftermath
In the aftermath, the Republic is saved from the Sith invasion, and Revan is presumed dead. The Jedi Exile and her companions return to the Republic, where they begin the task of rebuilding. However, Revan's fate remains uncertain, as his spirit is shown to survive and continue to fight against the Emperor's influence, setting the stage for future conflicts.
In conclusion, Revan is a thrilling space opera that explores the complexities of redemption, sacrifice, and the eternal struggle between light and dark. Revan's journey from hero to villain and back to hero again is a captivating tale that sheds light on the deeper mysteries of the Force and the Star Wars universe.
