Frost is the only rider who scored a qualified ride on the infamous Red Rock, the 1987 PRCA Bucking Bull of the Year, distinguishing his prowess in the rodeo arena. He was born in La Junta, Colorado, while his parents resided in Lapoint, Utah.

His father, Clyde, was a saddle bronc and bareback rider on the rodeo circuit, and his mother, Elsie, lived with her parents during his birth. Frost grew up with an older sister named Robin and a younger brother, Cody.

Passionate about the rodeo life, Frost began riding dairy calves at around 5-6 years old. Competing in the “Little Buckaroos” Rodeos held in Uintah Basin at age 10, he seized his first rodeo accolades in bareback, calf roping, and calf riding.

While his roots were in Utah, he later moved to Oklahoma, where he culminated his skills and became a National High School Bull Riding Champion in 1981.
