She is a former German sound engineer who crossed paths with Elton while working on his album, “Too Low for Zero.” Their relationship was certainly a pivotal chapter in Elton’s life, with their marriage in 1984 in Sydney.

However, the relationship ultimately ended in divorce four years later. After their separation, Blauel chose to stay out of the limelight, leading a private life away from media scrutiny. To distance herself from her connection to the singer, Renate Blauel reportedly adopted a new identity and secluded herself in a British village. 

In 2020, According to a report by the BBC, Renate made legal claims for a sum of £3 million. These claims stem from Elton John’s disclosure of details about their relationship in his autobiography, “Me,” and the biopic Rocketman since these actions are alleged to have violated a legal agreement between the couple that prohibited Elton from discussing their marriage publicly.

In 1993, Elton met and fell in love with David Furnish. They met at a mutual friend’s dinner party, and the two have been inseparable ever since.

In 2005, Elton John and his partner registered their civil partnership at the Windsor Guildhall in London. Nine years later, on 13 March 2014, Same-sex marriage became legal in all parts of the United Kingdom.

So, on the 9th anniversary of their civil partnership, December 21, 2014, they officially got married. It was a private ceremony at their Windsor estate in Berkshire, and the guest list included esteemed celebrities like Ed Sheeran, David and Victoria Beckham, and Ozzy Osbourne, among others, who gathered to celebrate their special day.

In 2009, Elton John and David Furnish visited a Ukrainian orphanage that cared for children diagnosed as HIV-positive. During their visit, they expressed their desire to adopt a baby, but due to the marriage not being recognized in Ukraine and age restrictions on adoption, their attempt was unsuccessful. That experience sparked a strong desire within the couple to start a family of their own.

On Christmas Day in 2010, their dream came true when they welcomed their first child, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, into the world through a surrogate. This joyful event marked the beginning of their journey as fathers.

The happiness continued to grow when, on January 11, 2013, they expanded their family further, welcoming their second son, Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, through the same surrogate. Unfortunately, this meant that Sheila never had the chance to meet her grandchildren during that period of estrangement. In a touching turn of events, they were able to reconnect in 2017, just months before Sheila sadly passed away. This reunion gave them a chance to patch things up and find closure.
