Steve Alley is Brené Brown’s husband. He is a pediatrician who practices in the Houston, Texas area. He practiced medicine for many years at Memorial Hermann Medical Group Fannin Pediatrics and has a Doctorate Degree. Memorial Hermann is a large healthcare system in the Houston, Texas area and provided pediatric care for infants, children, and adolescents, and their services include well-child check-ups, sick visits, vaccinations, and other pediatric care.

Brené Brown and Steve Alley met at a bar in Houston, Texas in 1987. At the time, Brené was a student at the University of Texas at Austin, and Steve was in medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. They struck up a conversation and hit it off. They went on their first date a few days later and have been together ever since.
Brene has mentioned their meeting story in several interviews and talks, including in her TEDxHouston talk in 2010, where she shared the story as an example of the power of vulnerability and the importance of taking risks in life.
In the story, Brené describes how she was at a bar with a friend when she noticed Steve across the room. She was immediately drawn to him and mustered up the courage to strike up a conversation.
