Amy Winehouse, known for her uniquely soulful voice and tragically short life, lived a life of immense artistic creativity and personal disasters. One of the most pivotal figures in the latter was her former husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.

In the article, we will explore their tumultuous relationship as well as her final legacy.

Meet Blake Fielder-Civil: Amy Winehouse’s Ex-Husband

Blake Fielder-Civil (41 years old) was an integral part of Amy Winehouse’s life. He and Winehouse were married in Miami Beach, Florida, on May 18, 2007.

The two had a tumultuous on-and-off relationship filled with mutual passion and addiction. Fielder-Civil often found himself under media scrutiny due to his reputed influence on Amy’s drug habit. Both sets of parents expressed concerns about the couple’s well-being, even voicing fears of potential suicide.

From July 21, 2008, to February 25, 2009, Fielder-Civil was in jail, after pleading guilty to charges of perverting justice and causing grievous bodily harm. These charges were connected to a 2007 incident where he attacked a pub landlord, resulting in a broken cheekbone for the victim. It was later alleged that the victim received a payoff to undermine the court case.

In early January 2009, Winehouse was seen on holiday in Saint Lucia with up-and-coming actor Josh Bowman, prompting her to declare, “I’m in love again, and I don’t need drugs.”  Winehouse and Fielder-Civil, eventually filed divorce which was granted as uncontested July 2009.

Behind Amy Winehouse’s $4 Million Net Worth

British singer, Amy Winehouse, renowned for her deep emotional vocals and a blend of soul, jazz, and R&B, had amassed a net worth of $4 million before her untimely death in 2011. She gained acclaim with albums like “Frank” and “Back to Black” – with the latter yielding several hit singles like “Rehab” and becoming one of the UK’s top-selling albums.

Achieving international fame made Winehouse the first British female artist to clinch five Grammy Awards simultaneously in 2008. However, fame added fuel to her personal struggles, and she soon developed a problematic drinking habit after overcoming drug addiction. Repeated issues like being late to concerts and forgetting lyrics resulted in canceled performances and unsuccessful rehab attempts.

Gone Too Soon: Amy Winehouse’s Passing

Amy Winehouse tragically passed away on July 23, 2011, at the young age of 27. The talented singer’s cause of death was ruled as alcohol intoxication.

Winehouse had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for several years prior to her passing. Upon her demise, her assets were inherited by her parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse, and not including her ex-husband, Blake.

At the time of her untimely passing, Winehouse was involved romantically with Reg Traviss, a British screenwriter and director. Their relationship remained until her death, which marked the end of their two-year companionship.

Following her death, Winehouse was laid to rest at the Edgwarebury Cemetery in London, a site visited yearly by scores of fans coming to pay tribute to the late musical sensation.
